The Face of Freedom project was founded in 2002 by D. William Gibbons, former photographer and now Chief Executive Officer of the Lighthouse Group and Mad Brit Films. It is a growing, cross cultural arts and educational project that is shaping the future of international cooperation, understanding and unity.

By creating a visual platform for still portraits and documentary, the project offers an alternative form of communication for people to explore from around the world. It works with artists, corporations, educational institutions, and individuals to enhance the strategic impact of their personal growth while creating a mentoring network for the young generation.

Creator and founder D. William Gibbons began working on the project in March of 2002.

The Face of Freedom set out to connect people from around the world through the visual arts and documentary film - involving people with ideas for changing for the better their communities and even the world at large all through the power of photographs and film.

The Face of Freedom is self-funded by D. William Gibbons and supported by philanthropy and other in-kind partnerships that include Arizona State University, Four Seasons Resort at Scottsdale, Imacon and others.

The Face of Freedom is not a non-profit organization. It is however backed by a highly intellectual structure with integrity and passion that aspires to give back where it can both in moral and financial relief.

The Face of Freedom focuses on gaining grassroots information, from which people can absorb the lives and dreams of others. This opens communication and understanding at all levels. The project does not compete with any other groups.

Face of Freedom Partners make up a cross-disciplinary group of organizations focused on being good global citizens and working to create a support structure for this great project. Partners collaborate to create a synergy in supporting the unique goals of the project.

The Face of Freedom selects portraits from the collection for the website. They are representative of the places we visited but by no means encompass the whole collection. The presentation is provided for viewer's enjoyment in gaining visibility of the goals and objectives that the Executive Producer seeks in this long-term program. There are no political, social or any other suggestions and/or opinions that should be construed by this selection. They are provided for creative purposes only.

8. How does the money get to the project?

Once The Face of Freedom has received sponsorship funds they are pooled with contributions from institutions, corporate partners and individuals.

9. How is the progress of the projects tracked?

For every project listed on The Face of Freedom project, the producer has responsibility to ensure that all participants' information remains confidential. Model releases include mailing address, phone number, and email address's. The model releases and information contained therein, allow the works produced to be published as a tribute to their support and friendship.

10. What can The Face of Freedom do for companies or institutions that want to get involved?

The Face of Freedom works with corporations, financial institutions, affinity groups, and other institutions. As such, this project will do its very best to return the compliment in any way possible. Brand affiliation, barter arrangements or other corporate arrangements will be considered.

In loving memory - Ben Pritchard

We are so very sad to announce that our beloved friend and colleague Ben Pritchard left us recently. Farewell to a dear and sweet man who touched our lives so deeply. Our heartfelt condolences goes out to his family and friends. His passing is not his end; he lives on in all our hearts and will always be an extraordinary part of this project called 14 Days.

This wonderful project and its beautiful imagery both in stills and film is dedicated to Ben who was intrinsic to its success. We had the honor of spending time with you but it was not nearly enough.

Memorial for Ben Pritchard

We recognize the effort and travail that creating worthwhile films requires; we recognize the talent and hard work that characterized Ben Pritchard. Through unsurpassed dedication and effort, Ben earned the respect of everyone with whom he worked. Though he traveled the road fame and fortune for only a short time, the promise of this young, energetic, and talented man was clear to all who knew him. Ben’s contribution to the two 14 Days documentaries is etched in the memories of everyone who worked with him. As a colleague of ours in the Mad Brit film organization, we honor him.
